Historic Funerals conducted by John Allison/Monkhouse

John Allison/Monkhouse has been the funeral director for many State Funerals. These include those of Sir Robert Menzies, Lord Casey and Sir Billy Sneddon. As a result of the review of procedures and protocol at the funeral of the first, new standards were established for funerals of such status.

In 1998, Rob Allison was also involved in the formal burial of a soldier, Private Bosisto, an Australian soldier from the First World War, whose body was unearthed by a farmer in a field in northern France. His re-burial took place in France with an appropriate military ceremony.

In 1998, we had the sad task of overseeing the funerals of two murdered policemen, Sgt. Gary Silk and Sen. Const. Rodney Miller.

More recently, John Allison/Monkhouse conducted the State funeral for the late Don Chipp, founder of the Australian Democrats, and were officially thanked by the government for our work.
